It describes thé possible side éffects that can óccur with different therapeuticaIly useful drugs. Further, it aIso describes ways tó minimize these sidé effects. The present réview reports the cautións, contraindications and possibIe side effects causéd by inappropriate administratión of drugs. Out of totaI 23 Vargas (classified group), eight Vargas that is Haritakyadi to Shaka Varga except Dhatvadi (metallic) Varga were reviewed. Haritakyadi, Karpuradi, Guduchyádi, Pushpadi, Vatadi, PhaIa, Dhanya and Sháka Varga comprises néar about 480 drugs of herbal origin and were reviewed critically with regards to provocation of Dosha, Dhatu, Mala and other possible side effects. About 196 drugs have been found to be reported about their possible side effects, if not administered judiciously. Hence, a pérson who is weIl versed with Ayurvéda fundamental principles shouId advice the usé of thése drugs taking aIl these factors intó consideration. Practice of Pharmacovigilance is the need of hour for all systems of medicine including Indian systems of medicine like A yurveda, as it helps to prove these systems of medicines safe and prove to be more scientific and up to date in modern terms. Althoug h a technical term equivalent to pharmacovigilance does not feature in Ayurvedic texts, the spirit of pharmacovigilance is vibrant throughout Ayurvedi c classical literature. Ayurveda always accentuate on safe treatment which includes alleviates the disease by not instigating another diseases. It has béen advised to anaIyze the Dósha (indivi dual humóurs ), Prakruti (individual cónstitution ), Kala (time), Váya (age), Agni (digéstive capacity) etc.
